Alonso Grandio

Alonso Grandio was born and raised in Mexico City,

with Spanish heritage from his father’s side

and Cuban heritage from his mother’s side.

Alonso has always been a lively, playful and passionate artist.

Ever since he was little, he wanted to perform.

Telling stories was his passion, creating
different characters and play-pretend felt like a natural place to be.

He never fitted well in school and could never see himself working inside an office space.

After graduating college in Mexico with a communications degree to his name, Alonso took
a leap of faith and left everything to go to Los Angeles, where he studied acting for film.

Shortly after obtaining his acting degree he started working on Student films, Short indie film           Big budget blockbusters, theme parks, etc.

While he was working he met his, now wife, Monique, there was fireworks from the beginning
and Monique brought him to South Africa for a visit.

Alonso instantly fell in love with the

country, the vibrancy, the nature, the colors, the people.

Alonso felt at home.

Once again, Alonso left everything for another leap of faith and moved to South Africa.

His dream never died and continued to pursue acting in a country that was a complete mystery
to him.

He instantly started trying to contact the top agencies in South Africa, along with the top
producers and writers in the country.

With a few up and downs, Alonso managed to get
signed by one of the top acting agencies in the country, Elysian Management.

To this day Alonso has been able to work with networks such as, SABC3, SABC1, ETV, MNET
NETFLIX, KYKNET, and with people on top of the South African film industry.

Alonso’s love for the country and industry instantly connected as he played roles that hit home with him and with South African viewers.

With an insatiable drive and hunger for more added to his love to this art form, Alonso continues to go for more and is standing tall despite the brutal rejection that this industry
offers countless of artists.

Alonso would not be here if it wasn’t for the support of his family back home and his wife, that every step of the way will be his biggest cheerleader or his harshest critic, all depending on
what he needs at the time.

It takes a village and Alonso couldn’t be more grateful to his team at Elysian, his wife, his family and most importantly, God.
